Bank feeds that almost match, every single month
A ninety-eight percent auto-match rate can hide the two percent that never should have been matched.

A ninety-eight percent auto-match rate can hide the two percent that never should have been matched.
Payment gateways often settle in batches. The feed shows one deposit; the application has forty receipts. A greedy matching rule will pick the first forty receipts that add up, including a receipt from the following week.
We ask clients to print the unmatched items aged over seven days, not the match percentage. The aged list is where customer advances, bounced cheques, and owner drawings tend to sit.
Foreign-currency accounts add a second trap: the feed books the ringgit, the invoice is in dollars, and the difference lands in an exchange account that is never recoded to the right invoice.
If your bank reconciliation is ‘done’ by lunchtime on the first working day, it is worth spending the afternoon on the items the rule was so proud to match.
